Paint protection film VS. vinyl film - how to choose?

There are several options when it comes to redesigning or protecting your vehicle. Two of the most common options are paint protection film and vinyl decals. Many people are confused as to which is better, paint protection film or vinyl decal?

Paint Protection Film (also known as PPF, hereinafter referred to as PPF) is a self-healing, clear urethane film.PPF is placed on the surface of the vehicle to provide impact protection from abrasion, scratches and debris. In addition, it helps protect vehicle paint from environmental hazards such as UV rays, oil spills, bird droppings and watermarks.

Vinyl lamination is a thin, flexible film based on PVC (polyvinyl chloride). It usually comes in a variety of colors, finishes and textures. Vinyl decal film film has a specially designed adhesive on the back of the film that securely adheres to the surface of the vehicle and conforms to the shape of the object being used. Vinyl decal films are commonly used to change the appearance of a vehicle. With the wide range of colors and finishes available, the options for vinyl decal films are virtually limitless.

As the name suggests, PPF remains the best way to protect your vehicle's paint. It acts as a self-repairing top layer that protects the vehicle from highway hazards, grocery store parking lot scratches, and wear and tear on the paint caused by adjacent vehicles opening their doors.

Vinyl decal is thinner than PPF, so it will not protect the paint from deep scratches or abrasions. However, vinyl decals will protect your vehicle from the negative effects of light debris, bird droppings and UV rays.

In short, if you need deep car paint protection, PPF is the perfect choice. It's great for off-road or highway driving. However, if you primarily drive in the city, vinyl decals can also provide a level of protection.
